They should have gotten married. Seriously, just look at them.

I lol so hard at the fact that he lost his virginity to her not because he did, but because according to that book i’m pretty sure the source is jimmy stewart and henry fonda. Was it a popular party story or something? Like hey jimmy, remember that time you lost your virginity to ginger rogers? I also find it really amusing that to my memory ginger mentions nothing of this in her autobiography. burn.

Wait, whaaaat? And what book is this? Also, AWESOME.

Perchance I shouldn’t spread this stuff around because it’s from Marc Eliot’s biography which I only flipped through at Borders one time to the pages mentioning Ginger Rogers and it doesn’t appear to rate very highly as a factual rendering of Jimmy’s life. The only reasons I perpetuate this are that 1) it amuses me to no end and 2) the fact that they were pretty steady for awhile is recounted by lucille ball in her memoir and as her pal I don’t know why she’d lie. Now whether or not she was jimmy’s ~first~ could be questionable but when ginger rogers is involved no doubt was there sex.

I wouldn’t trust anything Marc Eliot has to say. Also, I always thought Ginger was a goody goody? I’ve only read her autobio so I wouldn’t know otherwise.

I agree that he shouldn’t be trusted (so I really shouldn’t have thrown the virginity thing around, sorry world!) but the other points I think are viable. In certain ways I think you’re right, in terms of her refusal to drink alcohol and religious/political affiliations, but when you’re married five times, the first of which when you’re seventeen years old I just don’t see sex as being a taboo with her.

Well it would be amusing if it were true! I don’t picture her sleeping around or sleeping with anyone but the person she is married to but who knows she certainly didn’t say in her book.

I honestly don’t believe that story. A lot of the events Marc Eliot wrote about in that book were fabricated. Plus, Ginger said she would never do anything like that, and I really don’t think Jimmy would. They did date between 1936-38 and I just think they looked adorable together. ;)

Tis all speculation. :] Much as I love Ginger I got the feeling from her book that she only wanted to present her best...
